Our research focuses on numerical modeling of single- and multi-phase flows, with a special emphasis on highly compressible flow regimes.

The research can be divided into three main branches:

  • Modeling of single- and multi-phase combustion processes

  • High-performance computing and high-fidelity Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) 

  • Development of numerical methods and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) algorithms


Numerical simulations have become an indispensable tool for engineering design in a wide variety of industries. Therefore, our research is oriented towards the following applications: 

  • Diesel engines and gas-turbines

  • Rocket and jet propulsion 

  • Advanced airbreathing hypersonic and detonation-based propulsion systems 

  • Explosions and fire safety

  • Latent heat thermal energy storage systems

  • Thermal management of electronic equipment
